The Pittsburgh Steelers guard James Daniels is not the only one from his family to make a career in the NFL. His elder brother LeShun Daniels, who is about two years his senior, began his professional football league career with the New England Patriots in 2017.

However, one can argue that though LeShun started earlier, he is not yet a proper NFL player. It has already been more than five years since his NFL entry, but he has rarely made an appearance on the field.

While LeShun has not been with any team since 2018, James is actively playing for the Steelers in the 2026 season.

Despite being inactive for a long time, LeShun still has hope that some team in the league will pick him. For that reason, he has not retired from his professional career yet.

Sadly, the chances are too low as the NFL is known to have been one of the most competitive sports worldwide, and it is hard to retain the lost career back once the player starts going out of form.

This article is about James’ brother, LeShun, his early life, unfortunate football career, personal life, and much more. Let’s start with some quick facts first.

LeShun Daniels Jr., better known as LeShun Daniels, was born on June 4, 1995, to his parents, LeShun Sr. and Alicia Daniels, in Warren, Ohio, United States.

For LeShun and his brother, James, sports became an essential part of their life at an early age. Their father, LeShun Sr., was an offensive lineman for Ohio State until 1996. Because of that, they began playing track and field competitions very early.

Soon after the birth of James, their family moved to Minnesota as their dad began playing for the NFL team Minnesota Vikings.

Eventually, LeShun Sr. returned to college and earned an MBA, after which he began working as a district manager for a national vending and hospitality company. Likewise, their mom has worked at the Library of Congress for many years.

After spending years in Minnesota, they moved to DeKalb, Iowa, in 2006. The children did their primary and middle schooling in Minnesota and DeKalb.

However, they returned to their hometown, Warren, and attended William Harding High School, where they played high school football. While James was good at throwing, LeShun was an excellent sprinter.

The two brothers grew up together as if they were friends, as the age gap between them was just two years. Hence, they were highly competitive, and over time, it helped them a lot to enrich their skills.

LeShun got his first scholarship offer from the University while he was a ninth grader. After graduating high school in 2012, he enrolled in the University of Iowa in Iowa City for further education.

Daniels obtained a bachelor’s degree in health and human physiology from the university in 2016.

His senior season for Iowa was most successful as he had 1,058 rushing yards with ten touchdowns. In addition, he was the team’s MVP and captain.

Despite being the Iowa Hawkeyes’ best senior in the 2016 season, no team picked him in the 2017 NFL Draft. Still, he signed with the New England Patriots on May 5, 2017.

His professional football career failed, considering he only briefly made it to the active roster with the Washington Redskins. He has not appeared for any team since 2018.
